DEPUTY DIRECTOR (AP&D)
Dr. Andrew Oke-‘Ovie Akala is a Communication and Navigation Scientist. He obtained a Ph.D. degree in Ionospheric and Radio Propagation from University of Lagos in 2009. His current research interests include analysis of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) ionospheric-induced errors (range delays and scintillations), improving the quality of service of radio signals propagating through stochastic medium. He also has biased interest in teaching Quantum Mechanics and Electrodynamics. He was a Fulbright Scholar to Boston College, Boston, USA in 2010–2011 and a Regular Associate of the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy (2015–2020). He has served the University at various capacities, such as, Member of Senate, Sub-Dean (Faculty of Science), among others. He has many high rated academic articles to his credit, and he is also a reviewer to many reputable academic journals. He is a member of many professional bodies.
